HARVEST - Sparkman's defense caused two turnovers late in the second quarter, and both mistakes proved costly for Grissom as the host Senators claimed a 28-7 Class 6A, Region 8 win Friday night.With the score tied at 7-all, Grissom's Jentry Jordan went back to punt. He mishandled the snap, and the Senators' Adrian Connor took the ball out of his hands and went 53 yards for a touchdown.Trent Bissell's extra point was good, giving the Senators a 14-7 lead.Less that two minutes later, Sparkman's Jonathan Luckett blocked a punt and Sparkman took the ball out of bounds at Grissom's 4-yard line.One play later, Troy Nance punched in for another touchdown and Bissell's kick gave Sparkman a 21-7 halftime lead.The final scoring play was a 1-yard run by quarterback Wes Alexander to cap a 13-play, 80-yard drive."The team came out flat in the third quarter, then turned it around and stopped a Grissom drive, which was as important as the two turnovers in the second quarter in winning the game," Sparkman coach Roger Haynes said.
