Sparkman Falls Short at Pell City

Pell City - It was a near capacity crowd at Pete Rich Stadium in Pell City that watched there home team squeak past the Senators 20-17. The first quarter was filled with defensive highlighted by a sack by Junior defensive tackle , Jonathan Hall. The sack set up a punt that was blocked by Taron Ryce resulting in a safety and 2 points. At the end of the first quarter the Senators led 2-0. the Second Quarter was filled with excitement .Early in the second the Panthers mounted a 12 play 60 yard drive capped of by a 2 yard touchdown run, the PAT was good and the Panthers moved ahead at the 6:32 mark of the second quarter. On the Senators next possesion, Quarterback , Wes Alexander moved the team furiously down the field. The drive covered 10 plays 75 yards in just over 4 minutes sealed with a 27 yard touchdown toss from Alexander to Tim Johnson Senators led 10-7 late in the first half. Twenty seconds later the senators had possesion of the ball again after a Jerron Mitchell Interception. the senators wasted no time , scoring again on a 11 yard touchdown from Alexander to Jacoby Moore. The drive covered 4 plays 34 yards. At halftime the Senators lead 17-7. On the first drive of the second half Alexander was picked off by a Pell City defender who promptly returned the ball 62 yards to the endzone. With 9:50 to go in the 3rd, Sparkmans lead was cut to 17-13. the two teams traded punts until in the early portion of the 4th quarter Pell City drove down the field and scored on a 17 play 81 yard drive to steal the lead and the game 20-17.
