MEDICAL TEAM


DR. STANTON B. DAVIS
Team Physician
Dr. Davis is a member of The Orthopedic Center Sports Medicine Team. Board-certified in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine trained, he specializes in shoulder and knee surgery with advanced training in arthroscopy and minimally procedures to reduce the pain of surgery and help patients return quickly to a peak performance level. He applies the latest techniques in injury prevention, rehabilitation, and surgical treatment of sports and work-related injuries. Dr. Davis is certified in Holmium YAG Laser and FDA approved to do the Oxford knee. He served as team physician for Stanford University, Auburn University, and the San Francisco 49ers as well as several U.S. Olympic athletes. In addition to being the team MD for the SparkmaJAn Senators, he works with the Huntsville Havoc minor league hockey, Tennessee Valley Vipers arena football, and A&M University varsity teams.

 

JOE LEMERY
Head Athletic Trainer
Joseph Lemery was named as HealthSouth’s Head Athletic Trainer for Sparkman High School in August, 2005. In 2007 Healthsouth became Select Medical Physical Therapy. Prior to joining HealthSouth, Joseph provided athletic training services to Model High School in Rome, Georgia. He also served as Head Athletic Trainer from 2001-2003 for South Carolina’s men’s and women’s track and field team which won the 2002 Women’s National Championship, placing several athletes in the 2004 Summer Olympics. He also assisted with Gamecock football, men’s and women’s soccer, baseball, basketball, and equestrian.
Joseph received his board certification in 2001. He is also a board certified athletic trainer through the National Athletic Trainer Association. Joseph is a member of the NATA and is licensed to practice in the state of Alabama. He is also currently pursuing a master’s degree in Exercise Science through the California University of Pennsylvania. Joe graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Athletic Training.


ANDY WITHROW
Andy Withrow joined HealthSouth in 2004 as an athletic trainer. His work at Sparkman High School began in September, 2005, with emphasis on athletic training for all women’s sports, as well as student-trainer education. Andy also served as an athletic trainer North Monroe Medical Center Sports Medicine where he was responsible for high school athletics, professional hockey, and arena football. Prior to this role, he was a Health link neuromuscular therapist in Birmingham, Alabama where he focused on chronic pain injuries. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Stanford University.
